Active Adults Take a Spring Trip to Branson
April was a busy month for the Active Adults Ministry at West View, with 31 members making their way to Branson, Missouri, for the Springtime Jubilee Conference. Though the group faced a few health setbacks, including a stomach bug, they still had a wonderful time at the conference. The group is looking forward to their next event, the Lunch Bunch on May 21, where they will enjoy a taco bar in the Gathering Place at noon. This event is open to all, and a sign-up sheet is available in the Grand Hall.
Looking ahead, the Active Adults are also planning a November trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, offering a chance for fellowship and a scenic getaway. Information on the trip is available at the church office.
Celebrate Recovery Continues to Grow
West View’s Celebrate Recovery program continues to thrive with weekly attendance averaging between 30 and 50 individuals. The ministry, which meets every Wednesday evening, offers support and healing for people dealing with life's hurts, habits, and hang-ups. On the second and fourth Wednesdays, the group enjoys a meal and fellowship with children and youth, strengthening the bonds of the church community. Volunteers and new helpers are always welcome to join in supporting this powerful ministry.
Children’s Ministry Highlights April Events
April was a month full of activity in West View's Children's Ministry, and there’s even more on the horizon for May. The newly launched Kids Choir, led by Alissa Cooper, is already making a positive impact, with 10 children participating in rehearsals. The choir had the opportunity to lead worship in the evening service on April 21, showcasing their hard work and dedication.
Additionally, the annual Easter Eggstravaganza saw over 170 children participate in an egg hunt and fun-filled activities, bringing families together for a joyous celebration of the Resurrection.
In May, kids and families can look forward to a Zoo Trip on May 18, where they will travel to the Memphis Zoo for a day of exploration and adventure. The Ada, OK BSU College Team will also be hosting a Backyard Bible Club at Harmon Park from May 13-15, offering games, snacks, and Bible lessons for kids of all ages. On May 19, the Kids Choir will lead service once again, giving the children an opportunity to share their musical talents with the congregation. For more information on upcoming events, parents can reach out to Katie Yarbrough, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator.
Food Pantry Serves Hundreds in the Community
West View's Food Pantry is continuing its vital work in the community. In April, the pantry served 660 people from 232 households, meeting a growing need for food assistance in Paragould. The church is in the process of renovating the pantry space, and volunteers are excited about the improved layout and greater capacity it will provide.
For May, the pantry is requesting donations of canned vegetables to continue supporting families in need. The pantry is open on Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM, and the church invites the community to come and see the ministry in action.
Men’s Ministry Hosts Annual Skeet Shoot and Fish Fry
The Men’s Ministry at West View recently held its much-anticipated Skeet Shoot and Fish Fry, with 18 men in attendance for a day of fellowship, fun, and good food. Special thanks go to Donald Kemmett for hosting and Donnie Russell for preparing the delicious fish. This annual event is a favorite among men of all ages, and next year’s gathering is already being anticipated.
In June, the men’s ministry will switch gears with a Golf Scramble at Victory Lake in Corning on June 1 at 8 AM. The event will replace the regular Men’s Breakfast for June, and the cost is $25 per person. Sign-ups are available in the Grand Hall.
Missions and Outreach Focus for Summer
The Missions Ministry at West View is gearing up for a busy summer of outreach. The church’s youth and young adult groups will embark on a mission trip to New Orleans from June 9-14 for the MissionLab project, which gives participants the opportunity to serve and witness in the community. There are still a few slots available for those interested in joining the trip.
West View is also preparing for the annual Back-to-School Ministry Day, a major outreach event that provides school supplies and other resources to families in need. Volunteers are encouraged to help pack the 14,000 door hanger bags for the outreach, which will be distributed throughout the community. The church is also seeking prayer support for upcoming mission trips and community outreach events.
Music Ministry Growing Strong
West View's Music Ministry continues to grow, with new members joining the choir each week. If you love to sing, you’re invited to join choir practice every Wednesday at 6 PM in the choir room. This year’s God and Country service will be held on July 30, and the choir will play a key role in this patriotic celebration.
Students Participate in Fun and Fellowship
The Student Ministry at West View keeps things exciting with activities that help teens build their faith while having fun. This month, students held a Bible Trivia Night, with the winner getting the fun (and messy) privilege of pieing Max in the face. In addition, students went to Hijinx for a night of fellowship, followed by a stop at Freddy’s Frozen Custard for dessert.
In May, students will take part in door-to-door evangelism with the ECU BSU, sharing the love of Christ in their community. They will also finish their studies in the book of Colossians.
Women’s Ministry Hosts Successful Conference
The Women’s Ministry hosted its highly successful "Resilient Faith" conference on May 4, with over 90 women in attendance. The event featured Lindsey Ray, a former performer at Sight and Sound in Branson and current lawyer, who shared her powerful message of faith and resilience. The women also enjoyed a beautifully decorated space, thanks to Debbie Purcell**, who designed the event’s decor.
Looking ahead, the next women’s meeting will be held on **June 3** at 6 PM in the Gathering Room, where attendees will prepare for the **Back-to-School Bash** by assembling care packages for women in the community.
