Preschool Director Mariah Dowdy
Salvation Experience:
I came from a broken home, my parents divorced when I was 2. We never attended church regularly nor were my parents Christians. Thankfully when I was 8, my mom became a Christian. About a year later at 9 years old, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I vividly remember making the decision and the change I felt inside of me. I am so thankful God saved my family or I would not be who I am today.
Ministry Background:
I have been involved in preschool ministry since I was a teenager. I started attending West View in 2013 and became involved in the preschool department in 2015. When the position for Preschool Director was created, I knew it was perfect. I have been the Preschool Director for 3 1/2 years now. It is the most amazing job and I’m so thankful for it. It is a great experience to teach little ones about God’s love.
Favorite Bible Verses:
Deuteronomy 31:8- "The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
Romans 8:28- "And we know all things work together for good for them that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose."
Lamentations 3:22-24- Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul,"Therefore I hope in Him!"
Favorite Sports Team:
My favorite sports team is the St. Louis Cardinals. I didn’t know a thing about sports until I met my husband in 2012. He’s a die hard Cardinals fan, so naturally I was forced to like baseball.
Hobbies/Activities:
To be honest, my only hobbies include being with my kids! I have a 6 year old son named Liam, and a 1 year old son named Miles. I absolutely love being a boy mom and they always keep me busy. I’ve always been a stay at home mom, and this year we started homeschooling as well. We are having so much fun with it and I’m so blessed to have this opportunity. When I can find the time, I also enjoy reading and baking.
Favorite Color:
I’m probably the only person ever who doesn’t have a favorite color. I have a group of colors I like more than others if that counts? I tend to gravitate towards warmer colors like navy, mustard, olive, burgundy, mauve, and burnt orange.
Favorite Food:
I have several favorite foods, but I’d have to say my favorite is sushi. Probably because it’s something I don’t eat often, and I cannot make it myself at home.
